(Dedicated to Frida Kahlo..Mexican Artist )
One great love
Frida smiles
or sort of
for her..
a latin
beauty
brightly flamenco'd
dolours
in Christmas colour
her costumed
dress sits
boldly
creaseless
upon the painted page...
but this
I do not
notice
like I notice
the furrows
the dark holes
within the ground
creeping inside her back
growing
deeper
deeper
like the darkening sky.....
the orange sun
the silver blue
moon
echo
the stains back
of the true earth
the cracks in the
ground...
Esperanza....
talk to me Frida
tell me of your
sorrows
your dreams
wishes..
your loves
your great love
Diego......
everyone
should have
one great love
written in blood
inside their veins...
we have
talked of
this, dear Frida
my great love
and I
compared your orange suns
your silver blue moons...
The last time I saw him
he was looking
for the stars.
Old Music
I want to tell you
that I have no heart
I want to tell you
that should you ever wish to
create some kind of loving feeling in me
that I am empty
yet full to the ache with songs
and the beat beat of my
heart still ticks on sadly
still goes on somewhere
in tune with the
drum of my personal
being...
softly, softly I sing to myself
of sweetness, of passion, of pain
and time spent lived in past lives
and as I sing, I remember nights
weeping on and on
all through the lonely hours
where someone dead
is still playing the piano.
